Circus Paris-Berlin
While travelling Europe in 2004-2006, Australian figurative and landscape painter Joe Furlonger, produced a series of woodcuts based on the Winter Circus in Paris. Inspired by circus performers, he created the Circus Paris-Berlin suite featuring clowns, gymnasts, trapeze artists, tumblers and a strong man.
Furlonger’s painting style incorporates gestural marks that give a sense of movement and energy, evoking the excitement of the circus and its characters.
