The ARTreach project is a research initiative by the University of Southern Queensland, focused on engaging families and communities in creative, arts and research-based workshops. Its aim is to explore how participation in arts activities can enhance creativity, aesthetic awareness, wellbeing and a sense of hope, while also addressing themes such as sustainability, inclusion, literacy and community connection.  

Overview of Workshops connected to this project:

Redland Art Gallery in collaboration with USQ offer these engaging workshops alongside current exhibitions. The workshops are collaborative, hands-on sessions where participants create artworks, experiment with different media and reflect on their experiences. Developed with key facilitators, these sessions typically run for 1–2 hours and encourage discussion, creativity and critical thinking. They provide opportunities for participants of all ages to learn new skills, express ideas and engage with meaningful social and environmental topics. 

Consent to participate in this research:  

If you choose to take part in the research component, this may include photographs being taken of your artwork and audio recording of conversations that occur during the workshop. At the end of the workshop, you are also welcome to stay and reflect on your experience; with your consent, this conversation may be audio recorded as well.

Taking part in the research component is completely optional. You will be provided with a consent form to opt in or not before the workshop date so you can confirm if you are interested in participating, and you can decide what feels right for you.

You are very welcome to attend the workshop without participating in the research. If you choose not to take part in the research, no photos or recordings will be made of you or your work.

Please note that RAG staff are not responsible for supervision, parent(s)/carer(s) must remain with children while participating. Art activities suitable for all ages.
