The exhibition ‘View From the Edge’ presents paintings that respond to environmental themes, long voyages across the sea from Australia to England, and express narratives from a litany of memories and experiences of the Redlands Coast. Many of the paintings are symbolic of times and places that reflect on a personal history when I developed a particular interest in littoral zones where the land meets the sea, the deep depths of the ocean and the infinite space of the night sky. During my childhood and in later times I lived close to the water and often travelled to the bay islands. Many weekends were spent kayaking around the edges of littoral zones observing the seasons and tides of the water’s edge and the creatures and plants that lived there.
