In the exhibition Self-Space Universe artist Hadieh Afshani is focused on the experiences of immigration /transplantation and the consequences. These experiences are based on the emotional journey an immigrant takes. This journey is not just from one place to another, but, in reality, a journey of identity, of replacement and the process of becoming familiar with, and finding of one’s self in a new and unknown place. By using the living places and spaces in relation with each other, Afshani is depicting this experience of displacement and the state of making choices about the complex possibilities of the other places that we can choose to leave or stay in.
