The works on display explored the notion of realism in painting. Each artist strives to truthfully represent their chosen subject, but in doing so also questions preconceived ideas about what is real and what is constructed.

First Nations textiles from the RAG Collection
This current rotation is held in conjunction with National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) and NAIDOC Week (4 – 11 July). Featuring textile works by First Nations artists, the display celebrates culture, Country and the preservation of traditional practices and knowledge.
14 July – 17 October
On display will be a selection of paintings by Judy Cassab, one of Australia’s most esteemed painters. Cassab painted and exhibited prolifically since her immigration to Australia in 1951, and up until her death in 2015. In 2011–12 she generously donated over 400 of her works to small public galleries across Australia, including the works here. Cassab’s family have continued this legacy since her passing.
