In Blue Stitch, Sharon Jewel explores the themes and events that shape our lives while interrogating the subtle yet profound moments that drift by us. Jewell is interested in the sensory aspects of these moments, mining images and thoughts to inform her work. In the exhibition, Jewell transforms sketches and notations from her journals, preserving them through the methodical process of hand stitching. Through these processes, Jewell embraces a spontaneity and an eclectic array of tender, funny and mysterious moments which are rendered in rich blue ink. The resulting works speak to a range of narratives, invoking the viewer’s imagination.
