While RAG may be temporarily closed we are still keeping in touch with our superstar team of volunteers. At our induction and training day held earlier in the year we asked our volunteers a few questions.  Read on to find out more about some of our fabulous volunteers.

Volunteers are vital to RAG. If you are dedicated to the arts and interested in volunteering, please consider registering your interest for our 2021 program. For more information phone: (07) 3829 8869, email: gallery@redland.qld.gov.au or visit our Volunteer Opportunities page.

Hilary

Hilary has been a part of the RAG Volunteer team for just over a year. Though Hilary only claims to dabble in making art herself, she is passionate about the work of others. She brings this enthusiasm to the gallery and enjoys engaging with visitors about our exhibitions.

Lou-Anne

Joining the RAG Volunteer team in 2019, Lou-Anne is a uni graduate who has spent the past year gaining experience in our gallery to complement her degree in art history. “Volunteering is a fantastic way to build up valuable skills and meet industry professionals in the arts”. Pictured here at QAGOMA in front of Cai Guo-Qiang’s 2013 work Heritage, Lou-Anne is an enthusiastic member of our art community and enjoys engaging with like-minded people.

Jenny

Our RAG Volunteers assist with many tasks at the gallery including installing exhibitions. Jenny has been with us since 2011 and is a passionate supporter of the Redlands Coast arts community. This photo is from the installation of our 2013 exhibition Going Public, a series of portraits of prominent Queensland artists and their studios by photographer Richard Nolan-Neylan, curated by Jacqueline Armistead.

Junita

Junita has been volunteering at RAG for 10 years. Pictured here in Monet’s garden in France, Junita draws inspiration from this place for her own paintings, some of which have been shown in exhibitions at RAG.

Karen

Though Karen has only just begun her time as a volunteer with us at RAG this year, her face may be familiar. Karen is a practicing local artist who has had her work exhibited at RAG as well as facilitated some of our children’s workshops. As a passionate member of the local art community, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the gallery.

Val

Val has been with RAG since 2004 and enjoys all aspects of volunteering including engaging with the community and spending time with other arts enthusiasts. Like many of our volunteers, Val makes art herself, dabbling in painting and various craft techniques.

Maureen

Commencing at RAG in 2005, Maureen appreciates her time volunteering at the gallery and enjoys giving back to the community. Maureen creates digital photo art and draws inspiration for her work from her travels to the remote Kimberley region and other areas. Her background in art making is one of the fantastic ways that she shares her passion for the arts with the RAG team.
