Afterlife is an exhibition of powerful paintings and sculptures where Archer interprets and re-shapes the skeletal remains of animals including birds, rats and horses. While the subject matter appears dark and morbid the end results are poetic and even fanciful prompting us to question where souls go, rather than what happens to the bodies after death. Archer has won numerous awards including the 2010 Dobell Prize for Drawing, The Wynne Prize 1994, and a fellowship from the Visual Arts/Craft Board, 1993.
